General car insurance is for owners of unmodified vehicles that are driven regularly. It provides coverage in the event of an accident involving injuries, a law suit against you, damage to your vehicle or someone else’s vehic le or property. 
Qualifications
Must have an automobile registered in your name to insure and must have a driver who is legally licenced to drive that automobile. Vehicle may not be modified (coverage for modified vehicles is provided through Special Interest or Classic Car coverage).
Required by law
If the vehicle is being driven, Liability and Accident Benefits coverage is required by
law. Coverage for damage to your automobile is optional.
Things that can be covered
Liability provides coverage in the event you are sued as the result of an accident. Accident Benefits provides medical, rehab, death/funeral and income replacement coverage in the event you are injured in an accident. Damage to your automobile can be covered under the physical damage section of the policy.
Premiums based on
Premiums are based on many factors, including make/model and age of the vehicle, drivers age/number of years licenced as well as any accidents or convictions the driver has had and the coverages required on the vehicle.
